Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I am applying to drop a class BIOL 102 during my summer term. My name is Clinton Mikhow and I have finally embarked on my post-secondary journey after several years of working and saving I finally found a program that seemed to be a good fit for my lifestyle in Queens' online distance education degree.
In January of this year I started a full course load and decided to continue my studies this summer. Since I am 25 my plan was to accelerate my program and finish as soon as possible, however I did not realize the massive course load I was taking on by taking two half semester courses and a full semester class. Regardless I was adamant and stuck it out, however during this time I contracted mono and was bed ridden for several weeks.
While I was sick I fell behind by a large margin in my two classes, calculus and cell biology. I did my best to stay on track and catch up however was far too behind in cell biology to make a meaningful dent and after I got better attempted to drop the class. I realized at this point I was past the deadline. My situation was out of my control and I called my coordinator in hopes to receive some sympathy in this regard as Queens has been very helpful thus far in working with me as I pursue high education.
It was suggested I procure a doctor's note and write an appeal form to drop BIOL102. Despite being behind I am confident I can catch up in Calculus however, I do not want my illness to affect my Biology grades and sincerely hope I can be offered some concession and help in this matter as it would devastate me to be negatively impacted in this way after all my hard work to get this far/
Thank you for your understand, time, and patience and I hope to hear from you soon in this matter
Sincerely,
Clinton
