Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am appealing Astronomy 101, Physics P20 and Mafia Culture 214 due to the fact that I was not able to complete these courses because of a medical emergency. At the end of November last semester I became so sick that I was unable to attend class or complete my work. I was hospitalized on December 1st until the 3rd because I needed surgery. I had to stay in Montreal (my home) to recuperate. A week later I became sick again and returned to the hospital on December 12th. I required a second surgery and was hospitalized until January 3rd. Due to my illness and the two surgeries I was unable to complete the last two weeks of school last semester and could not write my final exams or complete any outstanding assignments. I missed the first two weeks of school this semester because I was recuperating from my illness and my second surgery. Throughout this semester I will have to go back to Montreal repeatedly for further tests and check-ups. I am in a situation where I have a lot of outstanding work to do from last semester and I was already two weeks behind in classes for this semester when I got back to school. For this reason, I would like to drop Astronomy 101 without an academic penalty. The amount of work that I have left for this class is too much for me to be able to accomplish this semester. The added load, including the work from my other fall classes as well as my work this semester has created a really stressful situation for me so being able to drop this class will help a lot. I am also requesting an Aegrotat Appeal for Physics P20 and Mafia Culture 214 because I was able to finish 60 percent of the work for each class. By dropping one course and completing the other two, I feel that I will be able to move on with my current semester and this will help my physical and mental state a lot.
