Petition Letter: Dropping Spanish P10 at this point would be most beneficial towards my academic career. In combination with family issues, my anxiety towards this course is impeding upon my ability to focus on this course effectively. Attached is a letter addressing my mental health issues written from this time last year when attending the Bader International Study Center (BISC). These issues have however carried on to this year and have been very strongly affecting me. I have been having a difficult time accessing the council ling services here on main campus, making the transition from the BISC to main campus very challenging for me. With this in mind, the transition has been rather difficult for me. I felt unprepared to deal with the issues of adding and dropping courses, as it is very different in nature when compared to the accessibility of the BISC. This difficult transition has made me unaware of a lot of the resources to which I can access and unaware of the time that is required in order to be able to actually qualify to receive the counseling services that I need in order to help deal with my mental health and my course load. My reasoning for not dropping the class before the drop deadline aligns with my mental health. I was feeling as if this course would be okay, and that I would be able to continue on without it affecting my overall health, however I have realized that I cannot reasonable continue this course and maintain the academic performance in my other course due to anxiety towards the course in both its content and workload.
