Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Further to a conversation with my academic advisor this morning, I would like to request that I may drop Music 102 without penalty, even though I know I have missed the deadline to do so. I have had health issues (mononucleosis) for the past several months and have been struggling to keep up with my workload, but was still intending to maintain my full course load. I did not want to drop any courses, however it is what is needed for me to maintain my GPA and be able to carry out my academic goals for next year. My illness is still affecting me today and can last up to 6 months and is affecting my ability to keep up with a full course workload. I am behind in all my classes and am struggling to catch up as well as perform to my highest ability. I have attempted to keep up and do all that I can in my courses but I have reluctantly needed to acknowledge that I will not be able to do so. My energy levels have gone down and I have had to acknowledge that I just can¿¿t keep up with all of the workload. My doctor recommended that I take it easy and don't push myself in order for me to recover, however I have been too stressed with a full course load that it is taking even longer for me to get better. I apologize for missing the deadline but I really was hoping and intending not to drop any of my courses. My doctor¿¿s letter is attached.
