Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean of Studies at Queen¿¿s University,
While completing my second degree at Queen¿¿s University in Computer Science, I experienced many health issues impeding my ability to graduate in spring 2015.
As a result, I was unable to complete courses CISC 282 and CISC 457 from the 2014 Fall Academic Term. I submitted an appeal in the winter term of 2015 to receive an incomplete on these courses until December 2015. I was approved of this request.
In September, I attempted to return to studies and my symptoms worsened within the first week, therefore, I decided to take more time away from school. Since this time I have continued to work part time and was finally able to return to studies in one course this January 2016. Symptoms from my post concussion syndrome have continued but are greatly improving. I have stayed in touch with Dr. Langelaan at La Salle for follow up and have approval from disabilities for extra assistance with my current course.
At the time that I was impacted by the concussion in November 2014, I had only completed 35 of the courses CISC 282 and CISC 457. Being required to take time away from my studies has resulted in forgetting majority of the content for these courses. This would require a great deal of time and work to complete them when I was still not recovered. If I had known the concussion would endure this long, I would have requested to drop both courses in my initial appeal. Please refer to my file for further details. I hope to be approved to have these courses dropped due to the circumstances. Thank you greatly for reading and considering my Appeal to drop.
