Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am appealing to add GNDS 321 back into my course schedule and receive an AG for the coursework. I have been undergoing mental health issues related to a documented chronic illness. This was compounded with a series of MRIs, CT scans and x-rays I needed to have completed this semester in order to undergo a necessary surgery on my spine and foot during the summer in relation to a disability I was born with. I traveled back and forth to Toronto this semester for ongoing treatment as well as testing. I was unsure if I would be able to complete the course due to these issues and dropped down to three courses to be sure that I passed them. However I am passionate about the subject and was able to attend a majority of the classes. I have been working with Professor Clow to coordinate my continued execution of the course work, only at an extended date and without group work as I would not be reliable to my group members due to my disruptive travel schedule. I am asking to add the course to my transcript because I believe that I have demonstrated that I have knowledge of the course material and am proud of the work I have done in the course.
Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I dropped down to a lighter course load this semester because I believed I would not be able to achieve academic success with my ongoing medical issues. I continued to work with Professor Clow and attend classes even after I had dropped the course. I am working with doctors at North York General Hospital and Toronto General Hospital, both of which are located in Toronto for my mental health and for my surgeries. I have found a therapist in the Kingston community to support my mental health treatment. I will continue to travel back and forth to Toronto for ongoing MRIs, xrays and CT scans in order to proceed with needed spinal and foot surgery. I have established a system with my professors to ensure that I am completing quality work in acceptable time frames as I have done with POLS 369 (Professor Matthew Trudgen) and GNDS 345 (Professor Nancy Butler.
