Petition Letter

Petition Letter: In my first year of university, I took on a course load that was considered the normal amount (five courses), before the deadline, I realized I only needed four courses to be considered a full-time student, so I finished the remainder of the term with four as well as Winter 2013 with four courses. I was struggling drastically and almost failing all my courses. In Fall 2012, I failed Cognitive Science, and in Winter 2013, I failed Computer Science. During this period, I made excuses that I was a new student and that it took time to adapt to this environment and struggling was completely understandable. Due to these grades, I was put onto Academic Probation for my second year with the consequence that if I did not maintain a C- (60 and above), and boost my GPA, I would be asked to leave.
Attempting to boost my GPA, I did a summer course resulting in a C+, and did four courses upcoming Fall and three courses in the Winter semester of my second year. I studied nonstop, and continued to struggle resulting in a D in Sociology, but managed to boost my GPA. The amount of time I studied for all my courses implemented high levels of stress and anxiety for me. In Summer 2014, I continued to do summer courses because I knew I could not handle the workload of a four-course semester. I continued to struggle slightly managing solely to revolve around studying.
In 2015, I began going for testing to see why focusing was a continuous struggle for me. I was then diagnosed with ADHD, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, I began taking medication Summer 2015 and took on two online courses, one worth 3 credits and the other worth 6 credits, and maintained a job (25 hours weekly) throughout the summer and received an A and a B-. In Fall 2015, I continued to maintain a three course load and received an A+, B+ and B+. It was recommended by doctors that my course load not exceed more than 3 courses a semester.
This semester, Winter 2016, I am in 3 classes and redoing one past elective in which I received a D- in the hopes to boost my GPA.
After reviewing my transcript, I saw that the two Fs I had received were due to an extenuating circumstance beyond my control. In attempt to boost my GPA, I wanted to redo the two courses I had failed but they were not offered in Winter 2016. I am a student that relies on Quebec loans, coming back for another semester to redo these two courses is out of my financial abilities because in order to receive a loan, I have to be considered a full-time student.
I hope to show you that my efforts to redo the courses were my initial intentions, but due to certain circumstances, the only option I have left is to ask you to consider my request to drop both Cognitive Science and Computer Science from my transcript and give me the opportunity to boost my GPA and further my education in my near future despite the unknown extenuating circumstances I faced throughout the first few years of my education at Queen¿¿s University.
