Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Officer:

I am writing to appeal for dropping one course this semester, which is cisc 121(Spring 2016). I have been tangled in dropping this course for weeks, since I paid so much energy on it, and this decision should be suitable for my present situation.
In these several months, some accidents really disturbed my ordinary life. Firstly and the most importantly, my grandmother passed over suddenly on 2th March. With no premonition, she left us, due to my studying in another country, I can not even attend her funeral ceremony. My grandmother is the most important family member for me. When my brother and I was little, we lived together with our grandmother, because our parents were busy with their business. She was so kind and nice to me, always took me to climb the mountains at weekends. I was so sad for her leaving for a long time that I did not eat anything for several days, I could not focused on anything and this really influenced my study. I stayed at home without speaking to anyone for several days, thanks to my best friend yilin she accompanied with me and encouraged me to stand up. Secondly, I asked for leave about one week to attend my brother's weeding on March 20th. Because he is my only brother and we are so close to each other, I have been looking forward to attending his weeding since I was a little girl, I was so happy that my brother got married. I learnt by myself during that week, while when I came back from Vancouver, I found that the course processed much faster than I did I missed some important knowledge points of this course, it became more difficult for me from then. I tried my best to catch up with the process of this course, memorizing all the concepts and understanding the examples in the book, as well as asking for my classmates for help. After one month, I found it a little bit clearer when following to the professor, but the assignment is still a tough for me.
In one word, a lot happened in this semester, no matter they are good or not, I learnt a lot from these, and grew up in spirit. I am the one who always likes challenges, I will stand up from where I fall down and keep on moving, I have already resisted this course online and make a study plan for it. I have already had some background of this course, and I plan to concentrate more on it then. I will consult with the professor about the key points of this course frequently and make a lot of practice after class. My career goal is to be a successful business woman as my mother, after graduation with solid professional knowledge, I plan to find a suitable position in a business company to improve my social skills, after that, I would like to found a clothing design and sales company with two or three partners. In the coming days, I will adjust my state and study harder, now I am planning to choose 3 courses in the summer semester, I believe I will do much better
