Re: Requesting to wave the 21-day appeal deadline
I am writing to you in order to ask if the the 21-day appeal period can be waived for my DEVs200 and HIST272 courses in order for me to submit outstanding work and complete them successfully.
It should be noted that I was granted an initial 21-day appeal in the fall of 2015, however due to extenuating medical circumstances I could not complete the required work in time.
Below are the reasons why I asking for a consideration:
At the end of 2014 it was discovered by my doctors that I had stage 4 colon cancer and required immediate surgery. After a lengthy period of medical examinations and surgery, I entered, chemotherapy and post operation recovery. It was then that my treatment was switched to Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto instead of KGH as the former was a larger facility with more experienced and specialized medical team. As you may be aware cancer affects all sufferers differently with varied degrees of treatment and post treatment recovery regimes. Mine was one that rendered me very weak, specially after chemo, weak enough that I was on sick leave from work and could not care for my two-year-old daughter. Also around fall of 2015 when I was still very much in recovery mode, our second child was born. Being an adult learner was never going to be easy, however, I long for the where I can put my studies behind me and get back to life fully charged and cancer free.
Unfortunately for me, this will be a long road to recovery and consistent revisitation to hospitals to return to some level of normalcy.
I will include my doctor¿¿s letter form the fall 2015 period for your review and also wanted to inform you that I am part of the Queens Wellness Centre student cadre. My Point of Contact over there is Mr. Michael Bagyani.
In conclusion I hope that you will consider my appeal based on the difficult and unavoidable life circumstances I had to live through. I m hoping that you will allow me to complete HIST272 and DEVs220 based on the points above and to help me reduce further financial burden by taking the course again.
Thank you kindly for your time and efforts.
Respectfully.
