Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I'm sending this appeal for credit standing of ARAB 200 for some personal reason. I like Arabic language and I plan to work in the Middle East one day so that was the reason I decide to take the course, even though the second year on Arabic is very difficult. Later I found out I'm not gifted at learning language that I failed the first attempt of this course. This year I took it again as an elective and I passed the fall term. My professor really tried to help me. However, during the final exam week of April I got a bad flu after I returned from Ottawa. I didn't go to a physician for a note and while I stayed home with fever I couldn't concentrate to review for my three exams that week. I ended up passed the other exams but the one for Arabic course.
I blame myself for one other reason. I didn't know why that since childhood I'm always the kid that get punished for fidgeting and not listening, also being a bit different socially. I passed high school without paying much attention but university is different. I heard about symptoms of ADHD so I checked in the school clinic and it turns out that I do have it. I learned that ADHD is not a disorder but a genetic trait. For those who have ADHD it is just a matter of changing the environment. I like cooking because moving around and multi-tasking makes me feel alive, and it also needs short period of concentration when switching through various steps. I plan to go to St.Lawrence for culinary management program after completing my general degree at Queens. I've been international students for three years and I hope I can graduate sooner with an fine GPA. Even though sitting and studying is not my advantage I will get the rest of the units.
One D- in my grades makes me worried. My goal is to get my overall GPA over 1.9. If I could get credit standing for this course I am sure I can reach my goal since I am putting more effort into my academics.
