Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,

My name is Adam Kadoch and I am a third year student in the applied economics program. After completing Econ 280 this semester I was very shocked by my final mark. This course was broken down into 3 main components: Research Paper, Mid Term and Final. On the Paper, I achieved 100, on the Mid Term I received a 73 and on the final, I received approximately 55. Frustrated and disappointed, I immediately spoke with the professor in order to find some resolve. My grade on the final suffered because I scored a 10/30 on the short answer response. I believe I answered the question correctly and certainly earned more than the 10/30 marks received. The professor was adamant that I did not deserve any more grades then what I had received. Although I do not doubt the instructors at Queen's, I continued to ask for more answers and support. After leaving Kingston, I drove back from Toronto to meet with the prof to review the exam in person, where I was shown another student's exam who had scored 30/30. After comparing my answer and the student who had scored 30/30, I still believe I should have scored more than 10/30. I continued to try to work with the Professor, but I was instructed to appeal instead, as a final remedy. I was hoping that a third party was able to re-mark my exam because I still stand firmly that I should have received additional marks. In my time at Queen's I have found the instructors and staff to be extraordinarily helpful and sincerely hope my exam can be re-graded. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I am very sorry to appeal again, as I had appealed a grade last semester from my Comm 322 class. I withdraw that appeal once I had reached out to the Professor and realized the instructor input my exam mark incorrectly; which changed my mark from a D to a B.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Adam Kadoch
