Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: During my first year at queens I was and aware of multiple sexual assaults on the campus that affected me during my studies. A friend of mine was raped and decided not to move forward with her claim and rather confide in me about the assault. I tried to get her to move forward but she chose not to. She lived on my floor and was assaulted in her room around Halloween . At parties I was grabbed by strangers and assaulted while not to the same degree I was still very affected by this, boys would attempt to stick there hands down my pants and shirts and would have to be forcibly removed by myself or with the help of a friend. And another friend of mine on campus that I knew from school was also assaulted in a similar way to my friend and decided not to move forward with her claim. I went to an all girls high school and had never really experienced this sort of problems, I was left feeling scared and vulnerable and would frequently have sudden attacks of fear I could not control. But because the girls I knew who had been raped didn't seek help I felt I should be able to deal with it my self. This did not work, as I got more stressed with school my panics got worse and I was unable to focus causing my grades to slip. I tried to force myself to study and deal with these problems my self but in the end was unable to. I have been traveling and working unable to write my appeal until now, I have also not been able to seek medical treatment for what I believe may be a developing anxiety disorder due to the trauma of my friends being raped and me being assaulted. I plan to next year live with people I trust and I know will support me and to seek therapy for the trauma with queens help system as soon as I get back to school as I do not have any available help where I currently am as I will be spending my summer away from home. I Have only recently been able to come to terms with asking for help and have begun speaking to people with what happened during my first year which also continues to why my appeal is late. I would like to appeal my grades for Chem 112 math121 bio 103 and 102 Phil 111 psyc 100. I am willing willing to talk to someone by phone if need be as well to explain what happened to me during the year my number is 1250-701-1212
