Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this in regarding the academic ruling I received in May 24. Thank you for give me a chance to appeal. I apologize for this late appeal. I am surprised to receive the ruling as I feel that I am getting better in my academic since coming back to Queens. Before the first term started, I talked to the academic advisor, Professor Lamb, regarding course taking. Professor Lamb recommended that I should take some courses I had taken before so that I could be easier to adjust to the school life. I repeated three courses that I taken before. I got better marks than in all three courses than before. For the next term, I decided to try some new courses and only repeat one course. Before taking the courses I still hesitated in whether I should take CISC 333 or not. In my previous time, I failed badly in the course. However I still decided to give another try. I thought when thing came to worse, I could still drop the course. As the term started, I tried to go to every class as possible and if there were classes I could not go, I tried watch the course video as soon as possible. Failing for the first time, I tried extra hard this time trying not to fail again. I dropped other courses in that term just so I could spend more time on CISC 333. I thought I was doing well in CISC 333. However there was no way to know how well I did since there was not mid-term exam for the course. I spent more time on CISC 333 than I did on other courses in that term. Even though I tried my best on the course, I still ended up failing the course. For the next term, Iearning from CISC 333 mistake, I only took three courses. Among the three courses I took, two of them were fourth year courses and considered really hard courses. I was able to pass both of them.

I feel that I should not be withdraw just because of one course I failed in. My term GPAs were better than before. I am getting better in my study and adjusted to the school life. If I were to withdraw again, all momentum I have will be gone and I have to re-adjust to school again once I am coming back after three.

I am so close to graduate and I have improved greatly compare to before. I feel I have been adjusted to school really well and I am confident that I will getting better in my study if I were to continue my study this year.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: For my academic plan, I have accumulated 132 units which are enough to graduate. For the coming term, I will take the key courses in order to be able to graduate this year, as well as taking some poor marked courses to improve my over all GPAs. I have made friends in the courses that I have been working together in some projects. I have more communication with TAs and professors than I had before. I am so close to graduate and withdrawing for three years would be a great cutback.
