Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am now returning to Queen's in my 2nd year of studies. Last year I failed PSYC 100B-Principles Of Psychology. I am appealing to the Queen's administration to have this failure/mark removed from my overall GPA.

I have been struggling with depression and anxiety since adolescents. The adjustment from leaving home and living on my own combined with the University work load left me feeling overwhelmed and anxious. As a result, I was unable to study effectively and my state of mind limited me from reaching my full potential. On top of this I was extremely homesick and found living in residence very disruptive and confining.

I am back this September with a renewed spirit and desire to embrace my education and the entire university experience. I have chosen to major in Sociology and I am planning on retaking this course as it is a prerequisite for a lot of subsequent courses I would like to take. I hope to attend teachers college once my undergrad is complete.
