Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello,

I am appealing to drop my ECON 223 online summer course due to the fact of my circumstances this summer have been complicated beyond my control. I am currently living and working in Kingston this summer, in which I moved residences on May 1st. In that period I enrolled in the summer Math 121 and ECON 223 due to the fact that I switch plans this past year and was looking to catch up in credit units. During the moving process our internet service was discontinued for 2 months until this June 27 due to the fact that the new residence we moved into did not have telephone lines hooked up to the house. When we contacted our service provider they were unable to send work crews until the end of June as they had to dig up the street in front of the house which took a lengthy process. During this time I had made all efforts to make it to campus to utilize their services. However, this was not enough and I had dropped the Math 121 previously as I knew with my work schedule that I no longer felt confident maintaining a sufficient grade. I still kept up the ECON 223 as I felt that I would be able to maintain a good grade in it but my decision whether to keep the course or not decided on what my marks would be at the midpoint in which was unfortunately this week as marks for some assignment and group work are released during this week. As I just recently got off academic probation I feel that by only maintaining this course will hamper my academic process as I will not be able to achieve a grade that will be a positive to my overall GPA, as a may have bitten off more than I could chew with my thirty five hour a week employment. I have contacted the service provider to show proof that we have not had service during this time and am still awaiting it in the mail. I will submit the documentation once it arrives but I hope you are able to understand my situation, and will make better time management expectations in the future, just that it was unfortunate that I made these decisions in April not knowing how the summer would play out.

Thank you for your time,
Justin
