Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Hello,
I am writing this appeal letter to gain permission to be enrolled in GNDS 350 and LLCU 328.
I have been having quite the difficult time with my schedule this term, involving 6.0 credits of GNDS courses. I was originally enrolled in GNDS 350 (3.0) and GNDS 212 (3.0). To try and eliminate course stress, I decided to drop the two courses and enrol in the one 6.0 credit GNDS 427 course. This decision did the opposite of what I was inticipating and actually increased my stress level. I realized it is quite out of my comfort zone and would be difficult for me to understand. On Saturday September 24th, I decided I was going to drop GNDS 427 and re-enroll in GNDS 350 and a new course, LLCU 328, however I was one day late for being able to add new classes.
I am really interested in the GNDS 350 course and enjoyed the first lecture, and would very happy to be re-enrolled in the course.
I was also wondering if I could gain permission to register in LLCU 328: Gender, Development and Film in Latin America. I am doing a BAH Major in Gender Studies, and LLCU 328 in a cross-list gender studies option, and I am very interested in the course.
I have spoke with GNDS 350 Instructor; Lorinda Peterson, as well as Kathy Baer (Undergraduate Assistant Department of Gender Studies), and Margaret Maliszewska (Administrative Assistant - Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures).
Also, I am registered with Queen's Student Accessibility Services as I have a Generalized Anxiety Disorder and it is very difficult for me to attend school sometimes. I commute to school from home, one hour each way, to assist with my disorder as being at school causes me great distress. Being enrolled in two courses that I am interested in will greatly assist. Also, maintaining in a full course load to stay on track with my degree plan is crucial for me.
I truly hope you understand my circumstance, and grant me permission to enrol in GNDS 350 and LLCU 328.
Thank you,
Alexandria Mckenzie
