Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am appealing to request an extension of IN status for PSYC271 (appearing on my transcript as F from a previously granted extension).
Last fall, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour (astrocytoma). This, along with pre-existing mental illness, affects my course work on an ongoing basis while I get treatment and care. My original request for an extension of this course was until September 2016, which was granted. However, around mid-summer, I experienced worsening conditions, and I was not able to fulfill this deadline. Soon after, I was deemed to stay in the Ottawa area this semester in proximity to the Ottawa Hospital (please see documentation attached). I am complying with treatment measures, and it is very likely that I will return to Queen's for the winter 2017 semester, where physicians are aware of my condition. I plan to continue my studies at Queen's while consulting with healthcare professionals as necessary, to hopefully successfully obtain my degree and care for my health. PSYC271 is a required course for me, and I have explained my situation and discussed the terms of completion with the professor (a final exam worth 70). I will be healthy enough to write the exam when I return to Queen's. Thank you very much for reading and considering my situation.
