Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Johanne Bénard,

I am writing to you because of a misunderstanding. My name is Emily and I am a first year Arts and Science student and I received an
e-mail not too long ago informing me about upcoming deadlines such as the last day to drop classes, which is November fourth. However I wrongly assumed that this was also the las day to add classes as well. Therefor I dropped my Political Science course so that I could add a French course instead. At this point, I realised that I could no longer add classes and immediately went to speak with Student Services in the Faculty of Arts and Science and was directed to the French Department. After I successfully completed the French placement test, I received approval and confirmation from the French department as well as the Professor whose class I hope to join. I was informed that they would allow me to join their course, if my letter of appeal was satisfactory and accepted. To give you some background, I have attended French schools my entire life and would be prepared to put in the effort and the hard work necessary to succeed in FREN 150. Moreover, I may plan to take French courses in the next three years and would need this course as a prerequisite.
I am aware that rules are in place and that I am asking you to make an exception for me. I would do my best and am confident that I can succeed, given the chance.
Thank you very much,

Emily Sen

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: Having attended French schools my whole life, I believe that I have a stronger base in the language than many of the other students might have. Therefor I am confident that I can catch up in the work that I have missed without too much difficulty.
