ACADEMIC APPEAL ¿¿ DANIELLA-ROZIE SKOK ¿¿ STUDENT NO: 0633 7514
Dear Associate Deans of Studies Office,
I am writing because I would like to appeal my three year academic probation¿¿ and would like the opportunity to begin working on finishing my Queen¿¿s University Classical History degree in September 2017.
I have created an academic plan in order to help me be successful in getting my last few credits. I realize that this is my second academic appeal but with the academic plan that I have created this time is more in line with my current life circumstances and will be successful. If my appeal is approved I will become a part-time student so I do not become overwhelmed with the workload as I was attending previously as a full time student. By being a part-time student I am able to take one or two courses at a time. I will be able to give them more focus and energy than when I was juggling four to five courses as I did previously.
My strategies for success this time will be giving myself more time in order to do assignments, have more time dedicated to my studying, and better time management overall in order to succeed in my goal of obtaining my degree. I am also committed to create a strong line of communication with my TA¿¿s and professors for help and clarification with my courses, which I lacked in the past. With weekly planning and a clear understanding of my course load I will be able to alleviate the stresses that I encountered originally while at Queens, giving myself the ability to raise my standards and meet the standards of Queen¿¿s University.
In the past when I would be overwhelmed I would shut down and was unable to meet the demands of university. Over the last two years I have had plenty of time to mature and refocus myself on the things that are important to me. I have developed a couple coping strategies that have helped me deal with my fears and anxieties, I have set goals in my life to keep myself motivated, and am more determined than ever to reach my largest dreams and ambitions. These strategies include meditation, finding outlets to talk about my issues, and have developed breathing exercised to keep me calm and be able to regroup so that I am able to pursue the completion of my degree at Queen¿¿s University.
I would like to thank you for giving me the time to explain why I would like to return back to Queen¿¿s in the fall of 2017. I understand that it is months away, but I would like to be proactive on finishing my educational journey.
Sincerely,
Daniella-Rozie Skok
