Dear Sue Blake,

I am appealing to drop PSYC 202 and PSYC 333.

Due to personal reasons, I have been unable to perform well in either class. I suffer from depression, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue and have been working for a few years to manage my symptoms. I was well enough to return to my studies until a minor car accident caused my illnesses to flare and become unmanageable. The fibromyalgia causes constant joint and muscle pain that makes it hard to sit in lecture and to focus on class materials. With the pain, my depression symptoms have flared and I have spent time in the hospital with suicidal ideologies. I also have had a hard time getting to lectures due to severe fatigue.

The car accident was shortly before midterms and my performance on my Statistics in psychology midterm shows how much distress I have been in.

I believe I am not in a state in which I can work hard and succeed.

I would like to step back from my studies to get my physical, emotional and mental health back to a place where I can succeed.

I intend to enroll in an outpatient program at KGH, spend time with doctors and practitioners to discover coping strategies, and work on concentration/study skills.
