Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am appealing for a credit standing for French 106 which I took this past summer (May 2 to July 22, 2016). Throughout the duration of this course, I was going back and forth between my¿two parent¿¿s¿houses, as they have recently separated. I was aware of this signing up for the course, and still thought that it was a viable option to carry on with the course as I had Internet at my dad¿¿s house and that is where I was supposed to be staying for the majority of the time. However, tables turned when I was forced to leave my dad¿¿s house due to a conflict, and live with my mother on June 1st 2016. I was put through more than I imagined I would have to in terms of my mental health. My mom¿¿s residence did not have access to the internet. I would try to go to a Starbucks to complete what was due; however, I needed a quiet (almost silent) environment as the Rosetta Stone activities required one to listen to a voice and then pronounce certain phrases and repeat the phrases back into the microphone of the computer. As you can imagine, this posed a great obstacle to completing all of the Rosetta Stone activities as they were long and very time consuming. With that being said,¿I still tried my very best to not let this affect the timing of when I completed the course. I was able to finish all the quiz¿¿s and tests, scoring within the A grade range for almost all of them. Thus, what took a huge toll on my mark were the Rosetta Stone activities in which I was unable to complete. Since I received high grades on everything I actually completed, I do not believe the mark I received in French 106 is an accurate representation of the knowledge I displayed throughout the entirety of the course.
