Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am a first-year student in science and I have just realized that I currently do not have enough credits to declare into life science for next year. I am writing an appeal to be placed into prof. Mackenzie¿¿s Anatomy 100 class past the add course deadline. I have just attended the life science information session where I noticed I did not meet the requirements for declaration. I was unaware of the 27-credit requirement for declaration into life science and I am currently 3 credits short. I would work diligently to catch up on the material I have missed and I also believe it will be easier to catch up due to the flexible nature of the online course. I have received permission from Prof. Mackenzie to the join the class late.
The reason as to why I did not take a complete course load in the first place is my mother (Dr. Tullio-Pow) is a chair at Ryerson University and I am able to take free courses through them. I planned on taking 6 credits online through Ryerson in the summer and transferring the credits. This would have allowed me to save money and have a slightly lighter course load during the year. I am now aware that this plan will not work for the degree plan I wish to follow. I also have an older brother in undergraduate studies which is why the idea of saving money from one course was appealing to my family and I. I would greatly appreciate if you could confirm my appeal to join the class late, so I can continue my degree plan of declaring into life sciences.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I am currently taking a Bachelor of Science Honors degree; I wish to declare into life science for second year. I am a full-time student living in residence and education is my main priority. I believe I have made a successful transition into my undergraduate career and am excelling in my classes. My current GPA from the fall term would allow me direct entry into Life Science and I plan on continuing this high level of commitment for the winter term. I thoroughly enjoy science, specifically the study of the human body; which is why I believe I would be a strong fit in Prof. Mackenzie¿¿s anatomy 100 class. As evident on my transcripts I received an A- in BIO 102 which serves as some proof to my abilities in this discipline.
