Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I wish to drop LAW 201 past the march 3rd deadline. I have been dealing with PTSD as a result of a car accident I witnessed, and the past year has been very difficult for me due to family issues that have seen my condition get worse than it was in second year. About a month ago, this resulted in me getting far behind in my classes, most especially in LAW 201. I am currently seeking help from doctors and a counsellor in order to better my situation and get back up to speed with all my classes. I am still very much affected by this, however I have taken steps to better my mental health. After much discussion with my parents and counsellor, my family and I decided that dropping LAW 201 would be acceptable and I would pay the fee required to drop the course. This decision was made over reading week while I was visiting my mother, as I decided that focusing on classes necessary for me to graduate the POLS program would be beneficial, as my ultimate goal is to either do post graduate studies in politics or law school. The plan that we made was that I would take the course over the summer in order to get the credits I would be missing if it were dropped. I attempted to drop the course, however it did not drop from my solus and when i emailed my advisors a week later, they made it clear that they had no record of me dropping the course. As such, I am writing this appeal with hopes that I will be able to drop LAW 201 with no academic penalty and re take it in the summer.
