Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Tina Cheung, and I am currently a third year student in the Bachelor of Arts program, studying English language and literature. I am writing to appeal for a one-term deadline, as I wish to drop my classes for my winter 2017 semester immediately.
Last year, I was required to withdraw from my studies because my grades had not reached the requirements of the school. Upon returning to Queen¿¿s University this year, I realized that university may not be the path that is required of me to take, as different people reach their goals in life through various means. I realized that the past three years of university had taken a toll on my emotional state, which affected my physical ability to do well in school. After returning to school during reading week, and searching for jobs, it was further revealed to me that I would be more suited in a hands-on workplace environment, than to be studying a degree which no longer interests me. Although Queen¿¿s university has offered and taught me a lot within my three years, I believe that it is time to try a different path in life.
I emailed the undergraduate society to assist me in permanently withdrawing from Queen¿¿s, and waited for their instructions on which actions to perform afterwards. I was informed to submit an academic change form and to drop my courses through SOLUS. However, the last day to drop winter semester courses had already passed. Because I have already submitted my form to permanently withdraw from Queen¿¿s, I was hoping that I would be able to also drop my three remaining courses for this semester on SOLUS. I believe that because I have firmly decided to embark on a different journey, it would be best if I could be back in Toronto as soon as possible, to start heading in a new direction that I believe life is leading me towards.
I understand that you are by no means obligated to grant my requests, and I appreciate that you¿¿ve taken the time to understand my situation. However, if my request were permitted, it would greatly assist me in starting something new and going after a path that I trust I would be more suited for.
Thank you for taking the time to read my questions and concerns. I look forward to hearing from you
Sincerely,
Tina Cheung
