Re: Noah Perron ¿¿ Appeal Amendment
I have been advised that I missed the deadline to Appeal for Credit which is 21 days or a one term deadline. Please accept this letter as my appeal of this deadline in the form of an Appeal Amendment.
When my parents told me that an Appeal for Credit was available, they left the matter in my hands. It was always my intention to Appeal but I found the process extremely anxiety provoking. Every time I thought about the Appeal, I would have an anxiety reaction similar to what I would have in my mid-terms and exams. I was trying so hard to overcome these types of reactions that I would put the Appeal away and instead focus on working hard in school. Additionally, working under the cloud of academic probation was so difficult, it added another layer of stress on top of the pressure of not doing well first year which was devastating to me. The simple task of writing an Appeal became too overwhelming. My focus in first term centered solely on succeeding academically. As stated in my Appeal, I chose easier courses this year, sought help from my psychologist, Dr. Paul King and worked extremely hard in pushing my GPA up. I feel I have been successful and, as a result, my anxiety somewhat eased after I received my first term marks. It is still there, but I am getting better and feeling somewhat more confident. As a result and as my confidence grew, I was able to face the Appeal without have anxiety attacks. It was then that I was able to sit down and write my Appeal without experiencing overwhelming anxiety. Also, I feel that by working hard, getting help for my problem, understanding it and improving my marks, I have proven to myself and hopefully to you that my first year was a factor of my anxiety disorder. This disorder was the only reason why I didn¿¿t file my Appeal sooner and within the deadline provided by the Regulations.
Again, I am grateful to Queen¿¿s University for having this Appeal for Credit and grateful to you for considering my Application.
