To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Sara Drummond and I am a first year student currently studying at BISC. On Sunday the 26th of March I was going for a run when I was hit by a cyclist. The cyclist came out of nowhere and his tire ran over my toe causing the toe nail to fall off and his handlebars struck me on the left side of my ribcage. The event itself has left me very traumatized as the cyclist did not stop and I was left in pain on my own. I visited the doctor on Monday the 27th as that was my first opportunity to be medically evaluated. I was told that I have a chest wall bruising with inflammation and most likely a severely sprained or fractured rib. Either way I have been told that the healing process is the same and I must just rest until it heals. The pain as interfered greatly with my studies. I have not been able to attend classes this week. I have been constricted to my room. The pain has inhibited me from studying, walking and even sleeping. As exams are next week this has increased my anxiety as I feel very unprepared and completely out of control of this situation. I do not seem to be recovering quickly and I have been told that a typical recovery time for my injury is 6-8 weeks. I have been prescribed pain killers which are leaving me with side effects such as nausea and dizziness which make concentrating and studying even more challenging. Due to the timing of my injury I would ask for an AG standing in both politics and psychology as I have completed 70 of my Psychology and 75 of my politics course. One of the student services leader Niamh Oshea has attended many of my medical appointments. I f you would like to contact her, her email is n_oshea@bisc.queensu.ac.uk
I have included a medical doctors note and a note from a doctor back in Canada proving my diagnosis of anxiety disorder to prove why I am finding the trauma of the incident harder to get over.
Thank you,
Regards
Sara Drummond
