Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean of Arts and Science Undergraduate Studies,
I am writing to you to appeal to add a course late, as I find myself 3.0 units short of elective credits, and will be unable to graduate this spring. Over both the fall, and winter term I have been doing research with Dr. Lucie Levesque completing a PSYC570 - Special Directed Lab Course, and upon discussion with Jill Atkinson, the possibility of applying to get credit for my ongoing research wok through adding the PSYC575 - Special Directed Reading Course was brought up.
I am therefore appealing to add PSYC575 late due to the fact that I have continued my research work beyond the PSYC570 (3.0) course under the supervision of Dr. Lucie Levesque. This continuation has included approximately 5-7 hours per week as well as spending approximately 3 hours per week reading the literature, preparing a poster, a presentation, and collaborating with other colleagues on a manuscript.Together the work this year would qualify as two half courses, PSYC570 (of which I am already registered), and PSYC575. Adding PSYC575 would make up for the 3.0 units of elective credits I am missing, allowing me to graduate this spring.
I am able to provide letters of support from either or both Lucie Levesque and Jill Atkinson upon request. I look forward to your response.
Thank you kindly,
Brittany McBeath

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: Should my appeal be granted, I will be completing an extra assignment outlined by Dr. Lucie Levesque during the exam period. I have been accepted by her to complete a Master's of Science under her supervision starting in the Fall 2017, and thus will be continuing my work with the project even over the summer term in preparation for the fall. My wish is to simply be able to graduate this spring 2017 as originally planned.
