Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
My name is Andie Wise, and I am a second year student majoring in classical studies. I am appealing to drop CLST 201 (Winter, 2017). Extenuating circumstances, beyond my control pertaining to psychological problems have adversely affected my performance at Queen¿¿s University. I have been suffering from depression, as well as severe anxiety and panic attacks as of last year. I had a suspicion that something was truly wrong with me, but it has taken me awhile to realize that I have been suffering from anxiety and depression. Although I have not been clinically diagnosed, these psychological problems have made it difficult for me to concentrate and have interfered with my learning. Hence, I don¿¿t believe that my performance reflects my efforts or my ability to succeed. I have been developing goals for recovery and believe that taking good care of my mental health is paramount to the success of my recovery process. Accordingly, I have been undergoing counselling and will continue to develop healthy habits and make lifestyle changes (i.e., exercise, diet, and sleep) as an integrated approach to treatment. Furthermore, I propose to retake the course next year as it is a mandatory course for my program. By next fall, I plan to make greater strides towards recovery and therefore may be more capable of showing my true potential in my studies. I take pride in studying at Queen¿¿s University and fear that my academic future will be hindered if this appeal is not approved.

Thank you for your consideration.
Best,
Andie Wise
