Petition Letter
Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I am requesting for aegrotat standing for my courses ENSC 201, PSYC 235b and BIOL 202. I am unable to function as a student to the best of my abilities due to my extenuating circumstances and believe that aegrotat standing is my best option for the semester.
With regards to my circumstances, my beloved girlfriend of 2.5 years, Gil Orbach, passed away suddenly on April 3rd when she committed suicide while on exchange. She was the most special and beautiful person in my life who helped me through many of my personal challenges with depression throughout the years. I am completely devastated and I am at a point where I can barely feed myself or maintain any sleep at all so I believe that in my current condition, there is no way I could possibly manage a acceptable performance on my exams.
It was the University's chaplain, Kate Johnson that suggested that aegrotat standing as an acceptable option and that based on the nature of the circumstances, supporting documentation is not needed. However, I made a public face book post last week in honor of her memory with pictures of how much love Gil Orbach and I shared and how devastated I am at our loss: https://www.facebook.com/photo.phpfbid10158533240900319&seta.10151406086055319.832920.681720318&type3
I greatly appreciate your time reading this appeal and I hope I provided sufficient information. Take care,
