Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am writing this appeal for AG standing in KNPE 331. I did not initially intend on requesting this but my situation has gotten worse.
There are 2 main events that have impaired my academic functioning. The suicide of my friend Gil Orback in Hong Kong this month and the attempted suicide of my friend Chris Dorsch in the fall. My dad took his own life in November 2014 so I am especially affected by these events and feel triggered frequently. The reason I have added this appeal to my previous one is that I have found myself in the middle of family drama related to who can and cannot attend the funeral. I initially thought I could handle it but I have been completely unable to focus on course work since it began and am beginning to feel less stable which scares me. It was previously suggested by Arts and Science that I apply for AG in this class. Previously I ignored their advise, but I would like to take their advise now as I worry the situation could continue to deteriorate.
Steps I have taken in resolving this matter include conferring with chaplain Kate Johnson regarding how to navigate the situation. I also have a counselling apointment in early May. Other steps I have taken to resolve issues related to Gil's suicide can be found in my previous appeal letter.
My next steps would be to attend Gil's funeral on the 19th, write my GEOL 104 exam on the 24th, schedule the GEOL 104 lab exam for a later date, and graduate in June.
