Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Queens University,

I am writing to ask for a letter of permission to take the fall term of my third year at the London Academy of Dramatic Arts. The reason which I am applying to this program is due to the excellent training that they offer their students. The program that I have been accepted to is the Semester Program in Classical Acting where I will take classes in singing, acting, dancing and dialect. This course is ratified by the University of Kent which supplies students 4 half year academic credits towards their degrees at the home university.

The reason that I have not applied for exchange with Queens is due to the fact that this program is unique to the school and therefore cannot be replicated at another university. As a drama student, I am incredibly interested in increasing my knowledge of theater while experiencing British culture. LAMDA boasts many successful graduates who have gone on to have fulfilling careers in theater, television and voice work. The course which I was accepted to was incredibly competitive and only 45 students were accepted, therefore it is an honor to be given a place on the course and I would like the permission of the school to be able to accept my placement.

I believe that the training offered will be beneficial to my future success and that it will give me an insight into what training at a conservatory is like. This will be important as after graduating from Queens I plan on applying to take a Masters in Acting at several different British conservatories and this will allow me to ensure that this is the right decision for me.

This is my passion and I am incredibly lucky to have been granted the opportunities that I have. At Queens I have been involved as an actor, a production assistant, a member of costume crew and taken classes in playwrighting, design and collaborative acting. This past September I was also honored to be a Gael for the incoming class. I want to pursue my passion next semester by gaining specialized training. Not only does the course teach you how to act but also takes us to see several plays in London and take us to Shakespeare's birth place. As a drama major, there is nothing more exciting than that

I am excited about this course and hope that Queens University will allow me to accept the offer that I have recieved.
