New Information: To Dr. Johanne Bénard,

This letter is regarding the reason for my late submission of appeal.

In my original appeal I go on to mention how effected I was from my concussion, these effects including not be able to attend class, no use of electronic devices, and minimal exposure to direct light. This was my first concussion and as stated in Dr. O'Connors letter, it was a severe one. Concussions are complicated because there is no concrete way to know when your symptoms will fade and when you will be better. This was a scary time for me because of the immediate effects it had on me, vomiting, headaches, memory loss, Etc. Due to the immediate effects it had on me I was not concerned for how it would effect me long term. From my knowledge about concussions I made the decision not to appeal because I thought that the recovery process would be a lot quicker then it was. To my belief I did not think that these grades would effect my ability to graduate because I figured that I would be able to do well the next semester if I was healed, this was not the case. Not only was I suffering 21 days after the exams but I still am suffering today. This concussion really took a toll on my mental health when I was home because it disallowed me to partake in the usual summer activities that I do. Missing family boating trips, watching my siblings play summer sports, both things I enjoy doing. Looking back now, if I was aware of the long term effects of concussions I would have done my best to form an appeal during the 21 days.
