Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Academic Plan: I am appealing to add the course BIO 102 late and I would like to retake it again over the May- July summer session. My academic end goal is to maintain in the science field and take general science courses to keep my options for a general science major open. The first step is to retake BIO 102 over the summer. The reason why I would like to retake this course over the summer rather than the fall term is because I would like allocate my time to just focus on this one course and since I had difficulty in this course previously, I rather take BIO 102 in the summer so I could focus on this one course. Another reason as to why I would like to join the BIO 102 class for the summer is because I want to gradually build a strong work ethic after one year of not being enrolled in classes. This would be a great opportunity to build a work ethic before my fall and winter term. I understand that I am applying to add this course late but unfortunately when I went to my academic advising appointment this Tuesday is when I realized that I missed the deadline to apply to courses that took place in May- July. But I firmly believe that I have the capability and the resources to not only catch up in this course but to excel as well. I am not nervous coming into this course late as I did take the year off to catch up with subject material that I am planning on taking over the fall/ winter courses and I have been able to build a better understanding and knowledge for this particular course. While taking this course, I would still have access to external help such as biology tutors as well as peer tutors. I would greatly appreciate a chance to start my academic goal on the right foot and would like to be enrolled in BIO 102 should this appeal be granted.
