To whom it may concern,


My name is Kirusika Thanabalasinham and the reason for my appeal is to request an extension for the deferred Cisc 220 exam that I was unable to write during the fall term. This year my health condition had worsened and made it very difficult for me to achieve my academic goals. Due to my health unexpectedly getting worse overtime I was unable to write it on the re-scheduled dates aswell. This was an extenuating circumstance that I had no control over. I had provided the professor with the medical note from a medical professional. The exam was lastly scheduled for me to write at the end of April. However my condition did not allow me to do so therefore I had once again provided the professor with a new medical note from my doctor stating that I am unable to write any exams due to my health conditions. Due to the unknown causes of my condition at the time and not finding the right dosage of medication I was unable to perform my best during this year as I constantly found myself feeling ill. From being physically unwell it then went on to effecting me psychologically due to the elevation of certain levels in my body. All of this made it incredibly tough on me during this academic year. I had sought medical attention right away as it was effecting my academics constantly. I had visited the doctor few days ago aswell and he had mentioned that it might take a little bit of time for my condition to stabilize. However I should start feeling better soon with the new dose that I have been given. I am meeting up with him again in 2-3 weeks time to discuss the state of my medical condition. Due to a family emergency I need to leave the country coming month or so as one of my close family member is critically ill and it is important that our family take the chance to see them atleast once before it is too late. I kindly ask that I am given enough time to recover physically and mentally. My journey at Queen¿¿s University have been long and tough but I never gave up. This was my final year to finally graduate and move on to the next stage of my life. Being unable to write my exam in time means that I might not be able to graduate by June but would definitely would like to graduate by this November. I have previously met up with Dr. Bénard and had given my doctor¿¿s notes from previous visits. I now have included my medical note from since then in this appeal.


Given the chance to write my exam I would pass the course and graduate by November latest. I am certainly a hardworking student who have not giving up no matter how tough the situations have been due to my condition. I kindly ask that I am given a chance to write my exam in time for me to graduate by November of this year.
