Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To Whom This May Concern:

I am Appealing the course MUSC 224. I am appealing this course for credit standing and/or the PIC (Personal Interest Credit) deadline to allow my PIC to be applied to this course after the fact. The reason for this appeal is for reasons of fairness on how the course was organized, assessed and conducted. The course lacked fairness in failing to provide a course syllabus. With the failure to provide a course syllabus and not making one available to be obtained, it left numerous ambiguities on how the course was to be organized, assessed and evaluated. By not knowing the how the course was to be evaluated, I was not able to prepare appropriately to obtain a mark on the same caliber as the other marks I earned during the winter 2017 term. There was a lack of fairness by not providing adequate feedback during the term as only qualitative feedback was provided which is of course subjective to the reader on what grade their work would be awarded, and when quantitive feedback was finally provided, it was the final grade on SOLUS. I believe it would be appropriate to award credit standing or allow my appeal for the PIC deadline to be granted as it wouldn't be reasonable to be penalized for lack of organization of a course.

Thank you for taking the time to evaluate this appeal.

Kind Regards,

Scott Thomas

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: My plan for future academic success would be to actively seek out details and clarifications on how a course is to be run and evaluated to avoid this situation in the future.
