Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,

On September 22, my mother lost consciousness and fell. Most of her upper teeth were gone. Fortunately, my brother was home and called the ambulance right away. I left for China upon hearing the news. It happened two days after the drop deadline for fall course PSYC100. When I arrived I realized that it would not be possible to continue PSYC100. I emailed my teacher Cheryl Hamilton and explained i had to leave the course. Afterwards I focused on my mother's health. In December my mother had another episode but fortunately she was not hurt. Doctors said it was caused by a shortage of blood supply to the brain. my brother was in another city 3-hour-flight away, I was the one who could stay with her in Shenzhen, China.

Fearing the worst, in January I asked my son to come to China, to see my mother and his other grandma (who was diagnosed lung cancer). We spent time with them and came back to Canada on March 21, 2017 exhausted, a bit stressed out yet very grateful. They seem to be recovering well.

In the chaotic period, I thought I had dropped all courses. This week I received an email regarding an outstanding balance (to my McGill email account) and I realized that I must have made a mistake and did not drop PSYC333 for the winter term. When I was in China I was not able to log in to any Queen's account and was too overwhelmed to look into this any further. It was all my mistake. It was my fault.

My brother sold the old apartment and bought one for my mother in the same building where my aunt lives. He will be accompanying her for further tests and treatments. This allows me to resume my life in Canada. I would like to get things in order and continue studying. I am writing this letter hoping for a second chance with PSYC course(s), both in terms of GPA and of payment. It really was my own mistake, I was overwhelmed and was not thinking properly. I hope to do better going forward, to be able to better handle a stressful situation. Thank you for reading this letter, thank you for taking the time to consider.
