Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I would like permission to submit an appeal past the 21 day deadline. The reason I am appealing now is because I was simply not aware of the appeal process at the time due to the fact I was much younger and not informed about things such as appeals. During my ten year absence, I was not sure of what I was doing and was no longer connected to the Queen's community. My future plans are to pursue a BA general in psychology online. I plan on enrolling in psychology courses in the fall and winter of 2017 and 2018. I hope to take at least 2 psych courses in the fall and they are psyc 235 and another level 200 course. My ultimate goal would be to qualify for the honours program after successful completion of the general program.

I am appealing for credit standing in ECON111,112, and PHAR 100 from fall 2006 and 2007. During the 2006-07 year my mother was terminally ill and this had a great impact on my ability to focus on studies. It greatly affected my performance in these courses. I was simply unable to concentrate on these courses because I was distracted with my mother's health. The focus challenges that impacted academics were reading and studying for exams. Studying for exams was especially difficult when my mother constantly needed help with going to medical appointments and household chores. It was a traumatic period and school took a backseat with my mom battling cancer.
