Jarred Potts

This past January I and a group of three other classmates were given the ¿¿Digital Story Assignment¿, which asked of us to put together a video that we could relate to one of the films we had studied thus far in class, before then presenting it to our class for viewing. The assignment was to be completed over the course of six weeks, and was to be submitted mid-February. From the very start there were complications in out attempts to complete the project. One of my group-members left the group after dropping the course about a week into our working on the assignment, but we were only made privy to this information during our second week of work. A second member had not attended class in a number of weeks and neither I nor my partner I was working with at the time recognized her name.
After another week passed, we finally succeeded in managing to get in touch with our third group-member. After meeting with her we discussed a plan for our assignment; what we would be filming, who would be doing what, how our video would relate to the course, etc. Another week would pass after that meeting with neither I or the partner I was working with being able to again get in contact with our third group-member. One week before the assignment was to be handed-in, and still with no tangible progress having been made due to our inability to get a hold of our third member, we learned that she had dropped the course due to medical complications.
Thankfully, myself and the last remaining member of my group were invited to another group to assist them with their Digital Story; after discussing the details with our T.A we were told that she would e-mail us soon regarding whether or not we would be allowed to join this other group. Sunday morning, two days before the due date, I received an e-mail early in the morning from my T.A asking whether or not I had joined the group who had invited me. I of course, had not, instead I had been waiting for the go-ahead from my T.A, which I can only assume she must have forgotten about. Now unable to join that second group just two days before the deadline, my last group-member and I were forced to complete the entirety of the project, from start-to-finish, on Monday so that it could be submitted for Tuesday.
We completed a six-week assignment over the course of a single day. With half the group-count that we were expected to have been able to work with. Personally, I filmed the entirety of the project, handling the camera for both the scene that starred my partner and the scene I starred in. Additionally, I edited the entirety of the project together over the course of a single-night, wrote the script for our story, developed the concept, and handled the production. While I certainly was appreciative of my partner's help, I admittedly took on the brunt-majority of the work myself, completing most of it all on my lonesome.
It is these culminating factors that I hope will be taken into account when having this project re-marked.
My thanks for your time,
Jarred Potts
