Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Associate Dean (Studies),

I am appealing for credit standing in ASTR 101 from Fall 2016, ANAT 101 from Winter 2017, CHEM 112, MATH 121, and PHYS 117 all full term courses.

In September of 2016 my doctor was in the process of switching my anxiety/depression medications which caused a setback in my mental health. Due to this I was unable to focus in lectures and fell behind on class material throughout the term. At this point I was unaware of how or if I could drop classes so chose to try and struggle through the term. At the start of the second term I began to have some health issues with my kidneys, which continued throughout three to four months of the semester, causing me to miss regular lectures and tutorials in one to two week intervals. Having missed a lot of material I felt incapable of catching up, and was not aware of any steps I could take to redeem my marks. Steps I did take was I spoke with healthcare providers and attended walk in clinics during the period my health was a concern in order to continue my studies as soon as possible.

My anxiety and depression medications are in the process of being straightened out, and I also plan to make regular visits to a psychiatrist to keep my mental health from being a barrier to my future studies. My health concerns with my kidneys have been cleared up after being prescribed the correct medication for the ailment. I also plan to regularly schedule appointments with a learning strategist for tips on how to stay more organized and not let myself fall behind, or get overwhelmed with my studies in the following year.

Thank you
Kyrin Boudreau 20000190
