Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello,
My name is Scott Clark, student number 10098288. On May 5th I had enrolled in HIST260, and online summer course. I had been accessing my assignments and completing them, getting an A+ and relatively high grades throughout my time in the course. My mother is unwell, and she is currently off work on her insurance plan. I decided that I would take the summer to spend time with her and assist with everyday activities while she is under treatment, and enjoy our time together, whatever that may be.
That is why on June 9th, I called the registrars office, and I also called the faculty of Arts and Science letting them know I wanted to drop the course. I spoke with a lady, and she asked for my student number. She looked at my Solus over the phone and she had informed me that I had been removed from HIST260 at my request. She had led me to believe that I was out of that class, and had informed me that because it was June 9th, I was goin to receive 50 of my money back. I thanked her and I genuinely believed I had been taken out of the course, and that I could use the 50 credit to my account for another course. I then I emailed my professor to inform her, and she emailed me back, thanking me for letting her know. She also emailed me again to tell me to email the exams office for Distant and Continuing office letting them I that I had dropped the course. I did this on May 12th, and this office wrote back to me informing that they would make a note of this. This was the last time that I thought about this course. I did not check my ONQ, and until today, did not check my Solus. After the lady from the university had told me that I had been withdrawn from the course, I in all good faith, believed that I was not enrolled in the course. I would not have just not completed assignments, as I had done my assignments up until that point. I am not that kind of student.
Then, just two days ago, on July 11th, I received an email from Continuing and Distant studies exam office informing me of my exam. I believed this was just an error on their end, and emailed them back informing them that I had dropped the course on June 9th. They wrote back and told me that I was still in the course, and to write to Solus, which I did. I still believed this was just an error. Then I wrote to Solus, and was just told that I a was still enrolled in HIST260. I called the registrars office and spoke to Kate, where she told me to contact certain offices which I am currently doing. If you are able, I believe you will see that there should be activity on my account from June 9th. That would have been the last time I accessed my accounts.
I am not the kind of student who would just not complete a course. I, in all good faith, was told that I was out of HIST260. I believed the university when they told me that. That is why I emailed numerous offices and my professor letting them know, and have not thought about this matter until now. I have records of those conversations, and would be more than happy to provide them, as well as my assignments from the course to demonstrate my prior commitment I had when I believed I was enrolled in the class. I am just requesting that I am taken out of the course, and that I do not have an academic penalty to my name. This has caused me a lot of stress over the past two days, and something I would like to get resolved. Please feel free to contact me with any questions at all.
