Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello Dr. Bédard,

My name is Arjun Jindal, I am a fourth year student at Queen¿¿s University pursuing a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology. I am appealing to request to waive the 21-day deadline to submit an appeal after an incomplete (IN) grade expires to F. This applies to PSYC501 (Fall/Winter 2015/2016).
On March 12th, 2016, I suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) during a motor vehicle accident in which I, a pedestrian, was struck by a car. As noted in the attached medical documentation, I was severely limited in my cognitive capacity for several months following the injury and am still in the process of recovery today. During the 2016 year, I was wholly focused on rehabilitation. On September 15th, 2016, when the IN grade expired, I was unable to use a computer, read, or write sufficiently. Hence, I was unaware that a deadline had passed.
Fortunately I have made considerable progress since that date and am feeling well enough to resume some of my original studies. Working with Dr. Andrew Hudson (family physician), Dr. Shawn Marhsall (physiatrist), and Heather Potts (occupational therapist), I have developed strategies that should permit me to succeed in completing PSYC501 during the 2017/2018 year. I have cleared my fall schedule to focus solely on PSYC501 and will take a reduced course-load in the winter semester should I be able to return to regular classes. I have already been working on my thesis successfully for the past three months. The aforementioned health professionals will continue to meet with me and monitor my progress in the future.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Arjun W. Jindal
