It is important for you to know, I am a student who cares deeply about my education, but I have lived with several medical issues including anemia. My iron level remained at the level 12 last year and no medication was helping until I started my needles during the summer. I was not able to leave my room for many days because at times if I did I would faint outside from severe exhaustion from being tired, regardless of sleeping for up to 15 hours some day. I have ADHD and suffer from panic attacks, that cause me to pass out and when I am wake after I am disoriented and confused. My doctor has put me on new medication to help prevent these episodes. Last year I went to the medical centre to get my much-needed needle iron supplement shot, only to be turned away and told I did not need it. I suspect that a student doctor was not familiar with my condition.
During my Chemistry 112 exam in December and last April I had one of my attacks. I do write exams in a room by myself. But the monitor for that exam session was monitoring about 10 rooms with students with varying conditions. When I blacked out the monitor was not in the room and did not come in until the attack was over. Regardless of my success in all the labs, quizzes, and tests in the course, the exam dragged my mark down to a D+. I had no control over my panic attack episodes when they strike or when they did during those events. It usually comes when something means a lot to me and I am very serious, nervous and anxiousness when something must be done successfully. I was unable to have automatic entry into the chemistry major. I would like to retake this class this year and obtain a higher mark now that my iron level is higher and I have received my ADHD medication. Please could I be given access to CHEM 112 even though the course has already started and I have spoken to the chemistry professor and I should be receiving exemptions from labs. Although, is it a lot of work and frustrating to do the course again I have chosen to retake the course rather than strictly obtaining a B+ in all my current courses. If not, could I please continue you my second year chemistry courses as all the actual chemistry majors are doing with my CHEM 112 mark becoming a Credit instead of the D+ affecting my gpa.
