Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom I may concern,

Starting in my 3rd year (2014) I started to suffer from a significant anxiety disorder. During that period I was also undergoing a number of major mouth surgeries, which compounded the stress put on me at the time. During the first semester of the year, I had not sought out academic and medical counseling, and as a result, that period of time was very difficult for me and my grades suffered. In order to deal with these issues, I withdrew from school temporarily. Recently, I returned to my studies, and finished my required course load with the grades I know I am capable of.

One set of courses I had a particularly hard time with during my third year were CHEM 281 and 282. While I was taking CHEM 281, my anxiety was extremely high. Furthermore, I had only recently began dealing with my anxiety (on my own), and had very little in terms of coping strategies. Accordingly, I was not in a state of mind to make an informed decision about steps to take regarding my grade in CHEM 281.

Upon reflection and based on discussions with an academic adviser I discovered there was a possibility to waive the appeal deadline via a separate appeal. This is extremely important to me because it may affect my eligibility for graduate studies.

Therefore, I am writing you this letter to request the deadline for an appeal to be waived for CHEM 281 so that I can request a credit standing in a subsequent appeal.

I have provided a number of documents in the past which note my condition; however, I would be glad to provide updated documentation upon request.

Thank you for your consideration, I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Ryan Grossman - 10064076
