Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am writing in regards to my microeconomics 212 course. Extenuating circumstances beyond my control have caused me to academically suffer in this course in particular. My academic ability has been hindered this semester by my anxiety, causing me to not be able to focus and being extremely overwhelmed, as well as stressed. I had not received my midterm mark back before the published deadline for dropping a course but I had thought it might be a good idea to drop this course even before I had received my grade. As this course is a requirement for my major and I have to receive at least a C, I was hesitant about dropping the course in hopes that my midterm went better than expected. I have contacted Student Wellness Services on campus regarding my anxiety this semester and I have an appointment with a doctor in my hometown in order to get a prescription for my anxiety. I care a lot about my studies and academic performance and sincerely hope that this course isn¿¿t recorded as an ¿¿F¿ on my transcript. I will be repeating this course in class in the winter term or online in the summer. I want to focus my time on my other courses during exam time in order to succeed and meet the required grades that I need in my other courses. I have calculated the grade that I currently have in microeconomics and what I will need to receive on the exam in order to receive a C in this course. I do not believe it is an achievable goal and will extremely heighten my anxiety during the already stressful time period of exams. My psychological illness has effected my academic performance more than usual this semester and my academics have been a major contributor to my anxiety and panic attacks. Having more required grades in each of my courses than I have ever had in the past has been a major contributor to my stress levels. I sincerely hope you take my appeal into consideration as I want to be academically successful by repeating this required course when my anxiety is less extreme.
Many Thanks,
