Petition Letter: To Associate Dean (Studies)
I am appealing to drop PSYC221 and CISC282 (Fall, 2017).
During the 2017 fall term, I was under serious mentally health problem. Although I was able to keep up with my courses at first, sometimes I was too tired to go to class and I fell behind in my work. And because the mood changing I missed a couple of deadline for assignment of PSYC221. And I didn¿¿t do very well in CISC282 midterm. But I felt I can still follow the course material. Before the final exam was beginning, I have faced some life-changing events. I felt I was unable to write the final exam. So, I followed my counselor advice to apply deferral my final exam of these two courses. After the winter break, I felt I still not recover from my problem and I am still unable to write my final exams. I decided I need to drop these two courses to balance my average grade.
For the future plan, because only the PSYC221 is requested by my degree plan, so I will take it in next fall term. I am continuing to follow up with student wellness for additional support. For this term (winter 2018) I am taking a lighter course load, and I am maintaining regular meeting with a professional counselor. I am also taking medication treatment to improve my mental health situation.
I have doctor documentation for supporting my petition.
