Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
My name is Jeremy Golden and I wish to study a term abroad at the University of Geneva in Switzerland during the 2015 winter semester. Ever since I started learning about the vast networks, markets and institutions that connect our world each and every day, I have wanted to immerse myself in activities that bring me closer to these ideas. I cannot think of a better way to do this than to attend an international students program at the University of Geneva, one of the most internationally renowned universities in the world. My interest in world trade is at an all time high and this program will enable me to study and learn within the heart of it.
The course modules that I will be taking will give me an exceptional understanding of how the global political economy operates in regards to Europe and its relationship to the rest of the world. The program also offers a wide variety of excursions such as observing the Large Hadron Collider (CERN), going to the World Trade Organization for a few separate events, and taking part in a 2 week French-intensive course to perfect my language skills. Thus, this program is a great fit for my degree (ECON maj / DEVS min).
I discovered the GISP last year and actually got accepted. However, some personal health issues made it impossible for me to attend the program. My interest has far from faded away though, due to the fact that if presented with a second opportunity, I will not only be able to take advantage of this beautiful school facilities and city, but also become a part of the University of Geneva for a semester and potentially even complete a degree there after I have finished my undergraduate studies here at Queen¿¿s.
I am also very aware of my program requirements and understand that I will be taking most of my 4th year required courses in the 2016 Winter semester in order to graduate with honors. This is not an issue for me, as I feel confident that once I come back from this semester abroad, I will be ready to complete my undergraduate degree in an academically successful manner.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Golden
