Petition Letter: To Whom it may concern,
My name is Kaitlyn Armstrong and I am writing you this letter as a formal request to consider my appeal to drop KNPE 153. I am requesting this late drop due to my diagnosis of mononucleosis, which adversely affected my marks as I lost crucial class time. Due to my illness, I was absent for two weeks, however, I was struggling with the illness prior to being diagnosed, which unfortunately affected my grades. Based on these circumstances that were beyond my control, I was unable to attend two mandatory tutorials for this class. As a result, I fell behind and did not gain the knowledge I needed from those tutorials in order to prepare for the final exam. When I notified my professor of my illness, he gave me an accommodation for my absence by not including the tutorials in my final grade. Leading up to exam time, I was notified that the exam was going to be tutorial-based, but as a result of my lost time, I was unable to perform to the best of my ability due to my lingering fatigue from mono. Despite my best efforts at improving my grade, I was placed into a situation that I could not control, which is the reason why I am requesting you to consider my appeal. If you have any questions or further information, I can be contacted at 16kya1@queensu.ca.
Thank you for your kind consideration of my appeal.
Sincerely,
Kaitlyn Armstrong
