Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Johanne Benard,
I am appealing to add three courses: CLST203, HIST253, and ECON243 past the deadline. However I have been previously enrolled in ECON243 and dropped it by error. Although I take full responsibility for not having met the deadline clearly set, I am making this appeal due to personal and academic challenges that paralyzed my decision making process in regards to the courses I would select. My transcript depicts what I hope to continue moving through the next few years of Queens, a maturing and growing student. I was a lackadaisical student in first year, experimenting in courses that I have come to understand were uninteresting to me. In the Fall term of this year I have discovered my love for economics and am excited to pursue further learning having improved my GPA 2.2 points and counting. However my failings in first year haunt me, I was worried that the success I was seeing was only temporary and that the courses I was thinking of applying to would be too difficult. This fear is what paralyzed me, facing the add course button in Solus, and for that I apologize profusely. I understand now after meeting with Spring the academic advisor the burden this places on the Solus system.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: Looking forward, should my appeal be granted, I plan and expect to see success in these courses for the following reasons. I am interested in the late courses attached. Economics of Health Care is fascinating as it deals with the combination of the laws and mathematics behind economics, but also how people truly behave beyond what they are calculated to do. History of Public Policy frames the policies created around the world which shaped the foundation of economic theories and beliefs today, such as Keynesian theory. Greek Mythology and religion, CLST203, while not related to economics has always been held close to my heart. I have been learning and surrounding myself with Greek mythology since before grade school with my childhood friend Mark Mckeown (20019693) who is currently enrolled in the course. Finally, I also expect to see success moving forward as I have been attending the lectures regardless of being in the courses, attempting to stay caught up. As for my fear of failure, this year I have surrounded myself with supportive friends and a significant other who will undoubtedly encourage me, as well as I plan to visit Spring for counsel and input.
