Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean of Studies
I am appealing to wave the 21-day or one term deadline so that a late appeal may be heard.
My intended late appeal is an additional inquiry with relation to my last appeal in mid-2017, which was an appeal to waive the requirement to withdraw for a minimum of 3 years. My intended appeal will address a few courses which I took during the school year of 2016 to 2017 when my extenuating circumstances took place for my last appeal.
Due to the circumstances I suffered from in the school year of 2016 to 2017, I performed poorly academically which resulted in my inability to surpass an accumulative GPA of 1.6 and my requirement to withdraw, and I am indebted to those concerned with my appeal to have understood and granted that appeal. However, during that school year and prior to a crucial course drop deadline, I sought help as recommended to seek advisory from the academic advisors but was provided critical false information which ultimately led to my decision to keep the classes that I had every intention of dropping if the correct information was provided to me. Due to my overwhelming anxiety and disturbance from facing the requirement to withdraw (all of which I saw a counselor for), I became too irrationally afraid and depressed to request anything with relation to those courses in my last appeal, even though it would have been based on the same extenuating circumstances, under the mindset that the less I asked for, the higher chance my appeal would be granted. My life had entirely depended on the decision of my appeal to waive the requirement to withdraw.
In the future, I will not fall under such an irrational presumption regardless of condition and treat the deadlines of the faculty with the professionalism it speaks for.
Thank you,
Stephen
