Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whomever it may concern,

My name is Emma Bullock and I am writing my appeal to drop DEVS 333 from my course load this Winter 2018 semester. Last summer of 2017 I decided that I wanted to change my major and I began to take DEVS courses with the hope of being able to switch into a DEVS plan this coming summer. This semester, however, I unfortunately took on too large of a course load for me to handle. I deal with quite bad anxiety and depression, and have struggled with my studies over the past few years. This semester I thought I had a handle on my illnesses and had hoped to be able to take on 6 courses to ensure that I would be able to finish my degree within the four year time frame that I had hoped. Unfortunately, in conjunction with having to work a part time job to help me pay for school, this course load has been much too much for me.
In DEVS 333, I have not yet had any work marked and it is the course in which I have so far had to hand in the least amount of assignments, which is why I chose to request this course to be dropped from my schedule. I hope that if I am able to worry less about one additional course, I will be able to focus and succeed more in my other 5 courses.
